This position requires real world in-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems, compute clusters, and high performance storage devices. This person will join a team with the specific goal of providing key technical research, design, troubleshoot and configure Linux servers, Linux clusters, and storage, for a major Oil and Gas company on a "global" scale.
This is a development position, NOT a system administration or support position. The goal of this role is to push the bounds of cutting edge technology concepts as it relates to Linux Compute Cluster and Storage in a large scale environment. Leadership skills are a definite plus. One of the goals of this position is to grow the candidate into a leader on the team.
Required Skills:
• Leadership skills and potential for growing into a leader on the team
• Strong Linux OS experience (7+ years in depth real world experience)
• Large scale Compute Cluster experience
• Linux compute clusters, with experience in job schedulers such as: SGE, LSF, PBS, etc.
• Proven track record of large compute cluster builds, support and deployment
• Knowledge and understanding of parallel compute jobs and ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
• Experience in using and supporting MPI. Familiar with the basics of items such as: compiling and linking, Makefiles, running MPI programs, etc.
• Skills in deploying, supporting, and configuring high performance mass storage devices (NAS, SAN, iSCSI, etc.)
• Strong shell scripting experience. (bash, csh, ksh, etc.)
• Proven track record of large scale Linux Compute Cluster builds, support, and deployment.
• Experience in developing automated kickstart/builds of Linux systems.
• Networking (CISCO experience preferred)
• Excellent communication skills (Verbal and Written)
Desired Skills:
• Strong Linux OS experience 10 years in depth real world experience.
• Oracle and/or MySQL database skills (design, and implementation)
• Linux server/desktop builds, support and deployment.
• Creation of custom Linux builds.
• Experience in PHP, C++, Ruby, or other programming language development.
• Source code management experience.
• Experience in developing automated kickstart/builds of Linux systems.
• Virtualization Experience and exploiting virtual systems and possibilities
• 5+ years of experience in programming language development
• Expertise in high performance compute clusters is a plus
Experience with the following is also preferred:
• Oil & Gas experience at major or super major company
• 3+ years of experience large corporate environment
• Ability to write and present design documents
• Strong team and interpersonal skills
